Begoña. BLUES ROOTS. (Blues y ragtime)

📍 Paseo de Begoña · View on map

Paseo de Begoña hosts a free Blues Roots concert on 22 August at 8pm, a trio paying tribute to classic blues and ragtime, as part of Gijón's Arte en la Calle programme. Fronting the band is John Wyke, harmonica player and singer born in Liverpool, who started out in university skiffle groups and has lived in Asturias since 2008; he's joined by Ángel Parada on guitar and vocals, with a career spanning punk, garage and pop since the 80s while always staying close to the blues, and Kiki Dee on drums and percussion, seasoned across many different styles. Together they bring back the rootsiest sound of the blues, with harmonica, banjolele and guitar. It's a free open-air event right in the centre of Gijón, perfect for a summer evening out enjoying live music with no ticket needed.
